Start with what you don't use, not by buying new

Do you also have a wardrobe where you have to move three piles of clothes to find the one shirt you're looking for? You're not the only one. The wardrobe is one of the places in the home where clutter accumulates the fastest, because clothes change with the seasons and your mood, and because we rarely take the time to put them back in a fixed place.

Before you buy a single box or hanger, empty the wardrobe and lay out all the clothes. Divide them into three: what you use, what you want to keep but are not using right now, and what is just gathering dust. The last one can be passed on. When you are only left with what actually needs to live in the wardrobe, it becomes much clearer how much space you really need, and what kind of storage solves exactly your problem. Utilize the height above and below the clothes

Most of the space in a wardrobe is lost in two places: the air at the top above the hanging rail and the floor at the bottom under the hanging clothes. You can win both back.

If they are placed with a label facing out, you won't have to pull everything down to find the right one. At the bottom, shoe storage can gather the shoes, so they don't lie in a pile you trip over. Think in layers instead of flat stacks, and you will suddenly get twice as much space out of the same wardrobe.

Hanging storage for folded clothes and bags

Everything doesn't need to lie on a shelf or hang on a hanger. A textile solution that hangs on the hanging rail gives you vertical space for what takes up little space on a shelf: folded sweaters, t-shirts, caps, or handbags.

The drawer is the place where order falls apart the fastest again, because everything just lands on top of each other. The solution is to give each thing its own space, so the pile never arises. Then you can see underwear, socks, and t-shirts at once instead of rummaging for them.

Hangers that gather pants, belts, and accessories

Pants, belts, and ties are difficult to hang neatly, and they often end up taking up a whole shelf or lying tangled together in a drawer. Here, real hangers save both space and time.

Space under the bed when the wardrobe is full

When the wardrobe is simply too small, the flattest space in the bedroom is often the most overlooked: the floor under the bed. There is typically 15 to 20 centimeters of free height, and that is just enough for flat bags with clothes you don't use daily.

Suits, dresses, and coats you only use on special occasions quickly become dusty and wrinkled if they hang freely among the everyday clothes. A garment bag keeps them clean and in shape until you need to use them.
